He doubled the lead just before the break when he scuffed a loose ball after a poor clearance by Al-Gaish keeper Gharib Hafez from Osama Hassan's free-kick before poking home into the empty net. Mostafa Gaafar ensured the victory 12 minutes after the interval after he latched on to Junior's through pass before firing a powerful shot into the top corner of the net.
Ismaili kept their title hopes alive Abdul-Halim Ali could have added the third in the 72nd minute as he controlled Hazem Emam's pass inside the area but the bar denied his fierce shot. Zamalek fans chanted angry slogans against midfielder Moetazbellah Mohamed 'Eno', who replaced Hassan, due to his reported move to arch-rivals Ahli at the end of the season after his contract expires. Elsewhere, Ismaili kept their title hopes alive after edging Petrojet 2-1 at home.
