Jose compares Abou-Treika to Ronaldinho
Published in FilGoal on 07 - 06 - 2006

Military Academy Stadium-Osama Khairy: Manuel Jose said that Ahli's performance against Ittihad in their Egyptian Cup round of 16 match on Tuesday was affected by the participation of nine players in the Egypt national team.
Ahli went on to win the game 1-0, courtesy of a Mohamed Abou-Treika penalty, and advance to the quarter-finals but failed to give their usual impressive displays.
"The game was interesting on some occasions," Jose told reporters after the game.
"Nine of my starters were on duty with the Egyptian team and returned to practice just one day before Ittihad's game.
"So under the circumstances, this victory is more than enough," the Portuguese manager said.
Jose dismissed allegations that the penalty-kick awarded to Abou-Treika was controversial, noting that it was so obvious that referee Samir Osman should have cautioned Ittihad defender Sameh Hagras.
The Portuguese manager voiced his concern about the busy schedule that his team faces every year.
"The year should be extended to 14 months so we can at least get one month off," Jose said jokingly.

When asked his opinion about Amr Fathi "Samaka" during the game, Jose said: He is a talented player and he is slowly getting oriented with his teammates, but talent alone is not enough."
Jose took the opportunity to dish out praise for Abou-Treika.
"For instance, Abou-Treika is the most talented player in Egypt and he built on that by contributing to the team, just as Ronaldinho does for Barcelona."
The Ahli manager said that he will begin preparing for the quarter-final match against Suez Cement, noting that latter's exhaustion from playing extra time against Aluminum club will be in his team's favor.
Meanwhile, Jose's opposite number at Ittihad, Talaat Youssef, said that he is happy with his team's performance given the absence of some key players.
When asked his opinion about the penalty kick, Youssef said: "I wasn't close to the play, but I'm sure it will be clear in television replays.
"Nevertheless, I can't say I'm very happy with the referee's performance," he added.
Youssef said that Ahli's game was his last in charge of Ittihad but said that he has not decided on his future so far.
