Members of the Arab Parl't head to Gaza

A delegation from the Arab Parliament, an organ of the Arab League, headed on Sunday to the Gaza Strip through Egypt's Rafah border crossing to declare their solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The 47-member delegation, led by parliament speaker Houda Ben Amer, is expected to meet with leaders in the Gaza Strip in a bid to break the Israeli blockade on the enclave, after Israel's raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla last Monday.
During a meeting in Cairo late on Saturday, members stressed the necessity to lift the Israeli siege on Gaza and urged the international community to take firm measures against Israel.
This is the second delegation of the Arab parliament to head to Gaza this year, after 22 members visited the enclave last February.
Egypt opened the Rafah border crossing with Gaza shortly after Israel's attack on the flotilla, which was carrying 700 activists and 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid.
