SIDI ABDALLAH, Algeria - Algeria will not acknowledge any talks between Orascom Telecom (OT) and other operators on the sale of the Egyptian operator's Algerian unit, whatever the outcome, the Algerian telecommunications minister said. Hamid Bessalah also told reporters on Monday the Algerian government had so far been in contact only with managers at the Algerian unit, known as Djezzy, and talks with the Egyptian parent company would be the "next step". He said Algeria had a plan on how to manage the unit once it was under state control, adding the plan would be disclosed at the right moment. He declined to say if the state would sell Djezzy on to another company.
