The Libyan football team Al-Ittihad has arrived in Cairo on Friday to meet the Egyptian side Al-Ahly in the return match of the African Champions League on Sunday at the Cairo Stadium. The Libyan team comprises 36 persons, including 24 players in addition to members of the technical, administrative and medical team. Al-Ahly needs to win the match by three clean goals to qualify for the group stage of the tournament since it had lost the first match 2/0 in Tripoli. Abdel Majid Saleh, head of the Libyan mission, as well as board member and supervisor of Al-Ittihad club praised the warm reception given to his club in Cairo despite some violent acts which marred the first match in Libya. He added that the mission of his team was not easy in Cairo because “we are going to play with the ‘club of the century' and the best club in Africa, which includes a selection of the best players from Egypt and the continent.” He pointed out that many flights would be organized to bring Libyans who wish to attend the match to support their team in Cairo. The Ivorian referees of the match had arrived in Cairo in the early hours on Friday.
