Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority said Wednesday that it would not be dragged into a war of words with its Saudi counterpart over the suspension of flights to and from Cairo and the holy city of Medina. "We will not reply to the Saudi statement, simply because we believe that the strong Egyptian-Saudi ties will help find a resolution to the crisis," an Egyptian aviation official said. He added that helping the Egyptian pilgrims who travel to the kingdom was a priority. The Saudi General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) accused the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA) of breaching international regulations by preventing private airlines from using Cairo Airport, the daily newspaper said. The ECAA does not allow any private sector or charter airlines to land at Cairo Airport. “This is a monopoly that is against all international and local rules,” the GACA was quoted as saying in a statement on Monday.
