CAIRO – Egypt is the guest of honour at the Eighth Euro-Arab Festival of Photography and the Second International Photo Conference on the Road to Freedom and Democracy, which is being held from September 15 to 30 in Altona Town Hall, Hamburg, Germany. A total of 651 artists from 43 countries have participated in this year's competition, with the best of the 14,371 photos submitted by famous photographers and award winners featured in an exhibition being held on the sideline of the festival and focusing on portraying human emotions. Some of the photographers, who participated in the revolutions in Arab countries, are also participating in the festival. Meanwhile, the Second International Photography Conference will include visual presentations and lectures, through the medium of photography, an international means of communication. Qualified experts will lecture on 'Democracy and Human Rights', 'The Role of Youth in Historical Development' and 'The Picture as a message in the Media'. Another important issue is the internet, which has played an important role in the revolutions, contributing to achieving democracy, while the photographers participating in the event have tried to present their perception of democracy and freedom in a creative way.
