SINAI - A million-signature campaign was launched Saturday by the people of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula who are calling for owning the land on which they live. “The popular campaign was launched to gather a million signatures from the people in the North and South Sinai governorates, in order to support Engineer Hamdi el-Fakhrani who has filed a lawsuit at the Administrative Court to allow the Sinai people to own the land they live on,” said Ammar Gouda, the Sinai Development Minister in a popular shadow Government. He added that they have invited el-Fakharani to visit the North Sinai Governorate as part of the campaign. El-Fakharani filed the case against the Prime Minister, the ministers of justice and local development, and the chairman of the Urban Development Societies, demanding that the Government commit itself to allowing the Sinai people to own the land.
