CAIRO - Foreign Minister Nabil el-Arabi said Egypt would support the re-election of Ban Ki-moon to a second term in office as the United Nations secretary-general. The top diplomat said Egypt is sure that Ban, during his second term, will "attach the necessary importance to development in African countries". A host of countries have thrown their weight behind Ban to win a second term at the helm of the United Nations. Most of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council have already announced they are backing Ban for a second term.
