WASHINGTON – Egypt and the US signed on Thursday a scientific research co-operation partnership for this year, worth $8 million, the official Middle East News Agency reports. Egypt's Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Amr Ezzat Salama, who is currently in Washington, said that the Egyptian-US agreement would finance 27 projects, covering agriculture, medicine, environment, energy and engineering. He added that a competition for scientific research projects, which have already been accomplished over the past five years, would also be announced. The owners of these projects will be able to apply for scholarships to implement them. Salama added that an Egyptian-US workshop would be held in Egypt in November, as part of the co-operation partnership.
