CAIRO - Egypt's Minister of Tourism Munir Fakhri Abdel Nour invited a number of international TV celebrities and artists, including the veteran US host Oprah Winfrey to make talk shows and concerts in Al Tahrir Square, the epicenter of a revolution that toppled the regime of former President Hosni Mubarak. "Egypt will never become a cheap tourist destination offering programs for low prices. However, we will make offers and distinguished services for tourists," Abdel Nour told a press conference. He revealed that he would invite young Facebook subscribers to publicise Egypt's tourist destinations and to invite international visitors, adding that his ministry intends to take part in tourism exhibitions and conferences to promote Egypt as a tourist destination.
