KIGALI - The Egyptian Junior Pharaohs have beaten Senegal 2-1 on Saturday in a rather tough match of the opening games of the on-going 9th ACN U-17 football tournament at Amahoro National Stadium in Rwanda's capital Kigali. The Senegalese, with more fans at the stadium, had dominated the first half where Ibrahima Ndiaye scored the team's sole goal at the 20th minute of the game. The Egyptians spent the best of the half playing a clean professional game without enough efforts to aim at the goal. The Senegalese team with tall young men made several attempts but to no much yield. In the second half, the Egyptians changed course when they dominated the game targeting the goal while at the same time playing a skillful game. At the 66th minute, Mahmoud Waheed scored the first goal which got the game more competitive with both teams trying to counter attack. At the 83rd minute, the Egyptian team overpowered the Senegalese with one Mohmed scoring the second goal. At this point, the Senegalese could no longer chase the Egyptians who jealously guarded their lead up to the last minute. The soaked ground and repeated injuries on Ibrahima Ndiaye made it even more harder for the Senegalese to keep the ball yet they had more ball possession, 61% against Egypt's 49%. Sunday's matches will be held at Umuganda Stadium in western district of Rubavu, where Group B teams will have two matches. The first game is between defending champions Gambia against CongoBrazzaville at 12.30pm time (GMT+2) followed by Cote d'Ivoire and Mali
