CAIRO, March 17, 2018 - Twelve double-decker air conditioned buses became fully operational on Saturday as a part of a comprehensive plan to upgrade the Cairo bus service and transform it into a modern and fast means of transport in the capital area. Mr. Rizk Ali, the head of the Cairo Transport Authority said that new buses, whose unified fare would be LE5, would transfer passengers for the capital city to the New Cairo City. The first route would connect New Cairo to El-Marg neighbourhood and the second one would run from Hadayek El-Qubba to the 3rd Settlement also in the New Cairo City. Each bus can carry 68 passengers. The new buses would help meet the growing demand for public transport in view of the increasing population and the ensuing pressure on street traffic.
