Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry — who is also the President-Designate of the 27th UN Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP27) — went on an official visit the Gabonese capital of Libreville on Sunday to participate in the activities of Climate Week for Africa (ACW2022). The FM met with a number of senior Gabonese officials to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and coordination between Egypt and Gabon in various fields, in addition to exchanging visions and views on various issues of common interest raised on the continental and international arenas. The ACW2022 is a regional collaboration platform to explore resilience against climate risks, the transition to a low-emission economy, and partnerships to solve pressing challenges. The event is a key step on the road to the COP27, which will be held in Egypt's Sharm El-Sheikh this November. The ACW2022 is being hosted by the Gabonese government in partnership with the UNFCCC in collaboration with the UN Development Programme, UN Environment Programme, and the World Bank Group. Partners in the region include the African Union, the African Development Bank, and the UN Economic Commission for Africa.
