Egypt's automotive sales were down 22.4% year-on-year (y-o-y) and 46.7% month-on-month (m-o-m) in April, amounting to a total of 8,900 units. Sales of passenger cars were down 26.4% y-o-y and 49.8% m-o-m, amounting to 5,850 units sold. GB Auto, the Egypt agent for Hyundai, Mazda, Geely and Chery, reported a total market share landing at 19.5% in April. Although this marked a increase on the 17.2% reported in March, it still reflected a decline from the 21.6% reported in the same month of the previous year. GB Auto's passenger car sales in April rose 33.6% y-o-y and 43.1% m-o-m, amounting to 1,140 units in April. The y-o-y decline was driven mainly by a 54.7% decline in CBU sales, while CKD sales were up 9.1%. The m-o-m decline was the result of lower sales of both CBU, down 47.7%, and CKD 38.6%.
