Golden State Warriors set NBA record with perfect start to season
Published in Daily News Egypt on 25 - 11 - 2015

At the beginning of this season, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors stated that the team felt stronger this year. He has yet to be proven wrong, as the Warriors broke the league record for a start to a season.
The Golden State Warriors have broken the NBA record for the most consecutive wins to start a league season, beating the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night to reach an unprecedented 16-0 record.
The outcome of the game itself was never in doubt after the Warriors raced out to a 19-point lead at the end of the first quarter, ultimately cruising to a 111-77 win in Oakland, California.
The Warriors' historic win broke the previous record of 15-0 starts held by the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and 1993-94 Houston Rockets.
Warriors point guard and reigning league MVP Stephen Curry led all scorers with 24 points in just 30 minutes of play. After holding a 34-point lead at the end of the third quarter, Curry sat out the entire fourth quarter.
"It's a pretty cool accomplishment to go down and do something that's never been done in NBA history," Curry said. "We're on a roll. We have to keep it going and we're on the right track."
The Warriors will now seek to match the record for consecutive victories during an NBA regular season, which is 33 games, set by the 1972 Lakers.
Golden State could also threaten the Chicago Bulls' all-time season record, when a side led by Michael Jordan – which included current Warriors coach Steve Kerr – finished the 1995-96 campaign with a 72-10 record.
The Warriors now have one more home game before embarking on a seven-game road trip, including clashes with Toronto, Brooklyn and Boston.
