Fifteen Ultras White Knights fans of the Zamalek Football Club were released from custody on Wednesday, the group said Eleven of the defendants were arrested from a protest in solidarity with their fellow fans who were arrested in Cairo's Shubra neighbourhood on 30 August. The Shubra demonstration ended in clashes between security forces and the protestors, with security forces arresting 36 members of the group. Mortada Mansour, Zamalek Football Club's chairman, accused the group of attempting to assassinate him on 17 August. After the alleged assassination attempt, Egyptian security forces arrested around 11 group members from their homes. "There are still 39 people detained charged with being Zamalek football fans. We will continue for them, and will not stay silent," the group said on their official Facebook page. Mansour filed an urgent lawsuit calling for the group's ban. The Cairo Court of Urgent Matters is to issue a verdict on dissolving the group and proclaiming in a terrorist group on 27 September. The ultras group has often accused Mansour of being the "dog of the regime." They also question the validity of his claims on the alleged assassination attempt.
