Eid to leave Hodoud, welcomes Ahly switch
Published in Daily News Egypt on 24 - 03 - 2011

CAIRO: Egypt and Harras Hodoud winger Ahmed Eid says he has been promised a move to a bigger club by the end of the season, adding that playing for Ahly would be an honor.

The 30-year-old runs out of contract in the summer, with Ahly and Zamalek expected to vie for his signature in the next transfer window.
The temperamental midfielder has a reputation of getting into trouble whenever he plays against Ahly, something which made him an unfavorable figure amongst the Reds' fans.
However, Eid insisted that he has no problem with the Ahly fans despite the edgy relationship.
“I had an agreement with Hodoud officials that I will not sign a contract extension next season,” he said.
“Wearing the Ahly shirt is an honor for any player in Egypt.
“I have no problem whatsoever with the Ahly fans or with any of the players, including Mohamed Shawky. We're all friends.”
Eid was embroiled in an off-the-ball scuffle with Ahly midfielder Shawky in a friendly game earlier this month, which saw the Hodoud star receive his marching orders.
Egypt will miss the skillful wide man when they visit South Africa at the weekend in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier due to a knee injury.
