Egypt eyes boosting trade with Romania

Egypt's Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif met Romanian Trade and Economy Minister Adriean Videanu in Cairo and called for increasing the trade exchange between the two countries and giving a boost to Romanian investments in Egypt.
Egypt-Romania trade exchange is in favor of Romania, totaling $310 million, Cabinet spokesman Magdi Radi quoted Nazif as saying, according to a report from the State Information Service.
The Romanian minister led a delegation to Cairo for a bilateral meeting of the economic, technical and scientific cooperation committee. Egypt and Romania discussed on Monday boosting cooperation in the fields of oil, gas and petrochemicals.
Egypt and Romania agreed Monday to increase trade exchange to $500 million and up investment projects.
Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation Fayza Abol Naga and Videanu discussed means to benefit from the great economic potentials of the two countries. Videanu said trade exchange between Cairo and Bucharest stood at $370 million in 2008, including $240 million in Romanian exports to Egypt.
