ADDIS ABABA: In the latest stop on Ethiopian Airlines Dreamliner tour, the airlines flagship aircraft made a Saturday stop in Kigali as part of its “Africa First” campaign. Ethiopian Airlines is the second air carrier after Japan to begin using the massive Boeing 787. At Kigali International Airport, a delegation was waiting to welcome the flight into the country and take a glimpse at its state-of-the-art interior and design that hopes to revolutionize air travel. “This is a big proud moment for Africa,” pointed out Bruk Endeshaw, the Ethiopian Airlines area manager-Rwanda. “As it is truly an African airline, we gave the name of ‘Africa First' for this aircraft. The management of Ethiopian Airlines, staff and our supporters are gathering here to celebrate the welcoming of this aircraft.” In total, Ethiopia Airlines has ordered 10 Dreamliners, with five expected to be in service by the end of the year and the rest by 2014. The airline's chairperson, Tewolde Gebremariam, said: “The fact that we are the first airline after Japan to receive this ultra modern aircraft is an affirmation of our continual pioneering role in African aviation."
