CAIRO: At least 6 Egyptians were killed on Friday evening along the Nile River in the capital, Cairo, after the boat they were on capsized, medical sources told state media on Saturday. According to the report, a man, his son and grandchild were among those killed when the boat they were on hit a concrete barrier and tipped over. The incident occurred in central Cairo, near the State Television and Radio building, or Maspero. The survivors were picked up by other boats, which had come to the area to assist in saving people after seeing the incident. Boat accidents are not uncommon in Egypt and usually increase during the summer months, when Egyptians take to the river in an attempt to escape the heat.
