LONDON: They have been gathering momentum for quite some time in the United States, but now they are coming to the UK as well. Marches for farmed animals are demonstrations that highlight the suffering of animals on farms, where they are bred, raised and killed for human consumption. In the UK alone, around one billion animals are killed for meat, dairy and eggs every year, not to mention fish. Besides the suffering, animal farming is one of the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, according to a UN report. The first UK march for farmed animals will gather at 12noon on October 2nd at Cavendish Square (W1) for rally and speakers. At 1:30 it will move off.
