Nuclear Power Plants Authority intends to begin the construction works Dabaa nuclear power plant during the second half of 2020, its head Amgad Al-Wakil said. He added on the side lines of the Big Industrial Week that the 4,800 megawatt (MW) capacity power plant, the first out of four plants at Dabaa in the north of the country, aims to be up and running by 2026, while the other three are set to complete by 2028. He added that a feasibility study is underway to manufacture some parts of the nuclear reactors in Egypt. In December 2017, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin attended in Cairo the signing of the agreement that officially marked the launch of the power plant project.
