Egypt to launch third work phase for New Alamein University in 2019

Egyptian government's New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) is planning to launch the third phase of works on the New Alamein University for Sciences and Technology in early 2019, a source said on Saturday.
The move came in line with NUCA's scheme to increase the accomplishment rates of works on the anticipated university, the source in one of the major firms operating in New El Alamein further told Amwal Al Ghad.
The university, which is the first of its kind in the city, is set to open its doors to students in the academic year 2019/2020, and is being developed in three phases.
"We expect to mandate the university's construction works to one of the private-sector construction firms," he said, adding that the third phase will include three buildings and a major hospital.
Egypt's construction firm Redcon was tasked with carrying out the university's first phase, which encompasses a number of residential and administrative buildings.
As for the second phase, SIAC Holding Construction was charged with establish six giant administrative buildings as well as a bunch of utilities works.
In December 2017, Egyptian Minister of Housing and Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel- Ghaffar signed a cooperation protocol to establish New Alamein University for Sciences and Technology in New Alamein City, northwest of Cairo.
The university will contribute to the development of the city, Madbouly said in earlier statement.
The university will include departments of engineering and technology, basic sciences, pharmacy, medicine, international law, management, economics, and political science as well as arts and design.
Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi last March inaugurated New Alamein city on a space of 48,000 feddans, at a cost estimated at two billion Egyptian pounds ($111,7 million).
New Alamein is one of the fourth generation cities being built in Egypt in some of the most up-to-date architectural styles, and is scheduled to be finalised in one-year timeframe.
The anticipated city is planned to have universities and schools as well as various services and tourist activities. It is expected to accommodate 400,000 populations.
