Egyptian Ministry of Trade plans to boost state's non-petroleum exports by 10 percent per year to record around US$30 billion by 2020, Minister Tarek Qabil announced Thursday. He made these remarks during the expanded conference held by the ministry to announce its strategy for enhancing industrial development and foreign trade until 2020. A large number of business organisations representatives, leaders of industry sector, exporters, and heads of committees at the parliament, and international partners are set to take part in the conference. The conference was attended by representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Labour Organization - ILO, and German Corporation for International Cooperation-GIZ. The total volume of Egyptian non-petroleum exports reached around US$18.6 billion in 2015, Qabil clarified. About ministry's strategy for boosting exports, the minister added that it includes implementing a number of programmes to develop procedures and legislations regulating exporting and importing processes. The strategy also targets upgrading the competitiveness of Egypt's exports, improving the specifications and qualities of exports and imports, developing logistic transport projects, activating global agreements as well as the programmes aiming at promoting Egyptian exports.
