Kaspersky: Egypt and Oman more prune to cyber attacks in 2016
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 19 - 04 - 2016

Kaspersky Lab Cyber Security revealed Monday cyber security statistics results for the first quarter of 2016 in its regional conference held in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan.
The statistics showed that Egypt came on top of countries to have the highest cyber threats in the Middle East and North Africa with 51.3 percent followed by Oman with 48.4 percent and Saudi Arabia with 47.2 percent. In Asia, Azerbaijan takes the lead with 54 percent followed by Turkey with 48.8 percent.
Kaspersky Lab is an international software security group operating in almost 200 countries and territories worldwide. The company is headquartered in Moscow, Russia, with its holding company registered in the United Kingdom.
During Cyber Security Weekend, Kaspersky experts repeatedly warned the states in Africa, Middle East, and Asia from the high rates of hackers targeting mobile phones and PCs in 2016. Data encryption attacks have been intensified targeting big companies in the first place.
Kaspersky statistics, conducted in the first quarter of 2016, also showed that 52 percent of users in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa have been victims of security accidents related to local networks while 21 percent were victims of internet-related threats, said Gharib Saad, a security researcher in Kaspersky Lab Middle East and Turkey.
Saad added that both individuals and major companies should seek protection against different electronic threats by taking care of a number of factors including adopting advanced technologies in building up institutional infrastructure and raising awareness of both individuals and institutions.
