Russia and Egypt are set to resume bilateral military-technical cooperation, the Russian special presidential envoy for cooperation with Africa Mikhail Margelov announced on Tuesday. In his keynote speech at the London-based Chatham House (the Royal Institute of International Affairs), Margelov said Russia and Egypt will set a legal basis for the resumption of their bilateral military-technical cooperation. "Russia will send Egypt military equipments worth US$ 2 billion." The Russian news agency Ria Novosti has quoted Margelov as saying. Margelov further expressed Russia's willingness to resume bilateral cooperation with the Arab Spring countries, which had unseated their long-standing regimes. He said Russia and Egypt decided to resume the work of the Joint Ministerial Committee for Economic Cooperation. Moreover, Margelov noted that Russia's policies toward North Africa and Middle East reflect the key principles of Russian foreign policy, which seeks achieving peace, security, stability and democracy and uniting efforts to resolve international issues.
