Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El Hefny held talks with Chief of Mission of International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Egypt Carlos Oliver Cruz, to discuss expanding cooperation on key areas related to passenger data and border security. During the meeting, El-Hefny emphasised the importance of strengthening collaboration on Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) systems. He noted their crucial role in improving air transport security, supporting efforts to combat irregular migration, and enhancing the efficiency and flow of passenger movement. The minister also highlighted the ministry's interest in boosting technical training and knowledge exchange, leveraging IOM's international expertise, particularly in data management and smart systems. Oliver Cruz reaffirmed the IOM's readiness to expand cooperation with Egypt's civil aviation sector in the coming period, especially in training and upgrading passenger data systems, to support the government's efforts in securing borders and streamlining passenger procedures.
