Egypt's Minister of Investment Hassan El Khatib and Minister of International Cooperation Rania El Mashat met the Swedish Minister of International Trade and Development Cooperation Benjamin Dousa to discuss enhancing economic cooperation in trade, industry, and investment. Minister El Khatib emphasised the importance of boosting trade and investments in the longstanding strategic partnership between Egypt and Sweden, as per a Cabinet statement. El Khatib also noted that Egypt offers attractive investment opportunities across various productive and service sectors, stressing the importance of business community coordination in both countries. He highlighted Egypt's efforts to improve the investment climate through financial, monetary, and trade reforms. Egypt's market is a crucial regional hub and gateway to the Middle East and African markets. Minister Al-Mashat highlighted Egypt's longstanding partnership with Sweden in various sectors and emphasised the need to strengthen these ties in light of global changes and Egypt's economic progress. Al-Mashat stressed the Egypt-Sweden Business Forum's role in boosting economic ties and outlined Egypt's priorities: stability, foreign investment, industrial growth, localisation, job creation, and reforms. She highlighted collaboration with SwedFund and efforts to combine local resources with international partnerships to enhance economic growth and private sector investment, including through EU investment guarantees. Minister Dousa reaffirmed his country's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt, one of Sweden's key economic partners in the region. He said his visit aimed to explore further bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
