Egypt's CIT Min. explores cooperation with Japanese IT leaders

Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology (CIT) Amr Talaat met Keiichi Yoshimura, general manager at the Tokyo Innovation Platform (TIB), to explore collaboration in digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup growth, as per a Cabinet statement.
The meeting highlighted the ministry's efforts to create an environment that fosters digital innovation and entrepreneurship across Egypt through the establishment of Egypt's digital innovation centres – CREATIVA – nationwide.
The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation between CREATIVA and the TIB, particularly in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, with a special emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI).
Launched in May 2024, TIB aims to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and support startups through incubation, mentoring, consultancy, and partnerships with leading companies, academic institutions, and government bodies.
The platform currently includes over 140 private sector partners and works to enable startups to expand, access global markets, and develop the skills of students and youth, according to the statement.
Electronics & Semiconductors
Talaat also met with Japanese companies involved in electronics design and semiconductor manufacturing to highlight Egypt's ICT sector advantages, outsourcing developments, and growth in electronics and semiconductor R&D.
Discussions also covered training programmes being implemented to prepare skilled personnel across various technological fields and explore potential for joint cooperation, the statement added.
Renesas Electronics
Talaat also met with Shinichi Yoshioka, executive director of technology at Renesas Electronics, to discuss investment opportunities in the Egyptian market, focusing on the potential for collaboration in electronics and semiconductors.
Renesas Electronics is involved in semiconductor manufacturing and focuses on industries such as automotive, automation, the Internet of Things (IoT), infrastructure, and consumer electronics, the statment said.
TDK
Talaat met with Noboru Saito, CEO of TDK, to explore opportunities for establishing manufacturing and R&D centres in Egypt, focusing on electronic components, sensors, and batteries, as per the statement.
Mitsubishi Electric
Additionally, Talaat met with Masahiro Oya, executive officer at Mitsubishi Electric, to explore collaboration and investment opportunities in industrial automation, transport systems, semiconductors, and electronics.
