Egypt's Foreign Ministry on Thursday welcomed the new Lebanese government's obtaining the confidence of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, by a large majority. In an official statement, the ministry described the move as a landmark step, which would contribute to restoring brotherly Lebanon to its security and stability, preserving its sovereignty and unity, and restoring the regional status of Lebanon that it deserves. Egypt also affirmed its stance in support of the implementation of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement in South Lebanon and the demands for the immediate, complete and undiminished withdrawal of Israeli forces from South Lebanon, and its support for enabling the Lebanese National Army and state institutions to implement Resolution 1701, and the importance of the full and simultaneous implementation of the resolution without selectivity, and stopping the repeated Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty in all its forms.
