Egypt's Sustainable Agricultural Investments and Livelihoods (Sail) project has achieved notable progress in supporting small farmers across 30 villages in Minya, Beni Suef, Aswan, and Kafr El-Sheikh, according to findings from a recent supervisory mission by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The mission observed tangible improvements in agricultural initiatives that have positively impacted rural communities. Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk discussed on Monday these findings with an IFAD delegation. Both sides agreed to expand field schools in project villages to enhance farmer education and awareness while exploring financing options to encourage the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants, given their high economic value. Farouk instructed the project management team to ensure continuous follow-up on agricultural associations benefiting from modern equipment and machinery, emphasising their role in assisting small farmers and achieving long-term sustainability.
