Egypt's remittances from expatriates went up by 47.1 per cent to reach approximately $26.3 billion in the first 11 months of 2024, compared to around $17.9 billion in the same period a year earlier, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE). The surge followed the economic reform measures implemented in March 2024, according to CBE data obtained by Amwal Al Ghad English. In November alone, remittances soared 65.4 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to nearly $2.6 billion, up from about $1.6 billion in November 2023. During the July–November period, remittances climbed 77.0 per cent to approximately $13.8 billion, compared to nearly $7.8 billion in the corresponding period of 2023.
