A number of foreign passport holders started leaving Wednesday through the Egyptian Rafah crossing, international press reported. This is the first time since the Israeli attacks on Gaza began on October 7 that foreign citizens are allowed to leave. Live footage from the scene showed crowds of people entering from the Palestinian side of the terminal, but the exact number is not determined. Around 400 foreigners and dual nationals are expected to make the crossing on Wednesday. There are passport holders from 44 countries, as well as 28 agencies, including UN bodies, living in the Gaza Strip where 2.4 million people have endured more than three weeks of unrelenting Israeli bombardment. The Gaza strip has also suffered from shortages of food, water, and electricity in a total Israeli blockade. More than 8,500 innocents civilians have been killed in the bombardments, almost half of which are children. Egypt announced the entrance of a first group of 81 seriously sick or wounded Palestinians to get medical treatment on Wednesday. The decision came hours after Israel bombarded the largest refugee camp in Gaza, which reportedly injured around 400 people. Egypt condemned the attack on Tuesday and warned against "the consequences of the continuation of these indiscriminate attacks that target defenceless civilians."
