Twitter users will be required to be verified to access TweetDeck; the new rule will be effective in 30 days, the company said on Monday.
TweetDeck will also have an improved version with new features, as the social media platform mentioned in its announcement tweet.
TweetDeck, which used to be free, is used by businesses and news organisations to monitor content and may be a revenue source for Twitter.
The announcement follows Twitter's latest decision to limit the number of tweets read by users, which its executive chairman, Elon Musk, said is aimed at addressing extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation.
Experts said that Musk's recent decisions could potentially undermine Twitter's new CEO, Linda Yaccarino.
