Egypt's Ministry of Transportation announced conditions document for manage and operate the national railways' sleeping trains with Abela company that owned by businessman Naguib Sawiris, to provide a high-level service for citizens and tourists. This signature represents an important start to the private sector's entry into the administration and operation field in railway activities, according to Minister Kamel El-Wazir's speech on Monday at the Egyptian Economic Conference (EEC 2022). The agreement's objective is to contribute in the competitiveness of different companies, increase the levels of service provided for the passenger, and preserve railway facility's property and assets. The new system will reflect positively on railway workers and create a conductive work environment that increases productivity and service level provided. In August, the state-run Egyptian National Railways (ENR) has awarded the Spanish train manufacturer Talgo a €280 million ($286 million) contract to manufacture new seven luxury sleeper trains.
