Brotherhood, FJP deliberate supporting a presidential candidate
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 28 - 02 - 2012

The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party is in ongoing discussions over the candidate it will support in the upcoming presidential election, party MP Mohamed Emad Eddin told Al-Masry Al-Youm Tuesday.
“He has not shown himself before and will be a surprise to all,” said Emad Eddin, refusing to reveal the candidate's name. “He is also a faithful patriot and a good administrator,” Emad Eddin added.
The People's Assembly and the Shura Council are meeting Saturday to choose a committee of 30 members who would prepare a final proposal for the formation of the constituent assembly that would write the new constitution.
“All political parties are working on this issue so that the assembly is accepted by the whole society,” Emad Eddin said.
Last week FJP President Mohamed Morsy denied reports that party officials had contacted potential candidates or agreed on whom they would support.
While casting his ballot during the second round of Shura Council election runoffs on Wednesday, Morsy added that the next president should have the same mentality of the majority of Egyptians and respect Sharia, or Islamic law.
Brotherhood sources also said on Wednesday that the group would not announce who it is backing until the end of the candidate registration period so as not to reveal too much in advance. The registration process is slated to begin on 10 March.
