Police have foiled an attempt to smuggle 200,000 bladed weapons into Egypt, seized on a vessel coming from China. The customs authority received information that a smuggler had imported weapons banned from entering the country in preparation for distributing them inside Egypt. The Suez customs authority managed to detect the weapons using X-ray machines available at the port. The shipment was falsely registered as cargo of stationery to be delivered to a businessman.
