The Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival returns in its second edition with a month-long program of dance and theater performances, film screenings from across the African continent, an exciting lineup of Egyptian and foreign musicians, interactive art installations, and workshops for upcoming artists as well as families and children.
The festival runs across various venues in Downtown Cairo from 30 March until 28 April.
‘Make Your Move'
This free mentorship program provides a platform for young talents to create and present their thoughts, ideas and feelings through dance and choreography while at the same time promoting dialogue across borders through non-verbal art. It comprises master classes and a mentoring program led by acclaimed choreographer Nonne Svalholm, followed by a choreography competition where the young talents present their work to a jury and audience on the festival's closing night. One overall winner will receive a production grant to develop a longer project within the context of the “2 B Continued Laboratory Festival” produced in Cairo by Studio Emad Eddin Foundation from October 2013 to January 2014 and the possibility of presenting the complete work in D-CAF 2014.
For more information about how to apply for Make Your Move, write to [email protected]
Auditions take place on 30–31 March and the month-long mentorship program begins on 1 April.
