Addis Ababa - Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met Friday with his Algerian counterpart Abdelkader Messahel on the sidelines of the two ministers' participation in the meetings of the 31st Ordinary Session of the AU Executive Council at the level of the Foreign Ministers of the AU member states in Addis Ababa. In a statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said Shoukry briefed Messahel on the most important outcomes and deliberations of the Nile Basin summit that was recently held in the Ugandan capital of Kampala. Shoukry said that Egypt participated in the negotiations in a positive spirit and a desire to strengthen cooperation in all fields and build confidence with the Nile Basin countries, the spokesman said. The meeting also dealt with the situation in Libya and the outcome of the meetings of the African Union High Level Committee on Libya, the spokesman said. He added that the two sides discussed the latest developments regarding the Qatari crisis. The AU institutional reform initiative and proposed budget were also mulled, as the two countries are major contributors to the AU budget, the spokesman said.
