Sudanese sources attributed delay of the 10th meeting on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) to be held in Khartoum on Saturday to the Egyptian-Sudanese tense relations, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported. Sudanese minister of water resources and electricity has postponed the meeting with the Egyptian and Ethiopian sides, announcing that he will visit Brazil instead, reportedly due to the Egyptian treatment towards Sudanese citizens in Cairo, alleging his compatriots were tortured by Egyptian security forces. Meanwhile, Egyptian spokesperson of the GERD issue, Alaa Yassin stated that the six-party meeting will be held by the end of this month between ministers of irrigation and foreign affairs of the three countries. Yassin said the meeting will address the dispute between the advisory companies that prepare the technical report of the dam and its impact on Egypt and the Nile Basin countries. Professor of water resources and lands of Cairo University, Nader Nour el-Din said that Ethiopia made a dangerous advance in the dam construction with 47% of it completed.
