Gambian soldiers took advantage Tuesday to stage a military coup attempt during Gambian President Yahya Jammeh's visit to France. Soldiers attacked the presidential palace in the capital, Banjul that is located near the military base at Denton Bridge, which connects the city with the rest of the country. Residents said that the banks remained closed, while the radio stations didn't refer to what happened.
