Horoscopes:
Breaking barriers
By Imhotep
People born under the Cardinal Fire sign of Aries (21 Mar-21 Apr) show great independence of mind. They do not suffer fools gladly. This May, sturdy Rams have plenty of opportunities to speak their mind, to tell it as it is. What's more, all their physical and emotional needs will be attended to.
My dear Arians, what on earth are you going to do with your unstoppable sex drive this May? Spring is indeed in the air and it is the lambing season. The rise in temperature is making Rams horny.
Arians are generous to their lovers while love lasts. Generous to a fault. A few Rams might get enmeshed in controversy. Mind you, most will be well taken care of by lovers and loved ones.
When I first introduced this column, I advised people to check their Ascendant, Love, Passion and Power signs, because these influences either profoundly moderate or accentuate a person's Sun sign attributes. Some Arians are as gentle as lambs. Others are as majestic as the Ancient Egyptian ram-headed god Khnum. It all depends on their Ascendant.
Arians, whatever their Ascendant, are typically conscious of their magnetic appeal. And, they also unabashedly sparkle in the adoration of less-gifted creatures, especially basking in the adulation of faithful followers and hangers-on. Rams are impatient. May is a month when your patience will be tested to the limit dear Rams.
Arians are ambitious. They are often all too eager to reach the pinnacle of the ambitions. Remember, dear Rams, that people don't always get to their destination in one giant step.
A humbling experience around mid- May may prove salubrious. Far from being a gift given to a privileged few, happiness is something that everyone can experience. In May, many Arians will learn to share the joys of heartfelt rapture. Cheer up, share a joke with someone you care about, dear Ram.
People born under the Fixed Earth sign of Taurus (22 Apr-22 May) are at one with the elements. No other sign in the zodiac is closer to earth and nature than Taurus. Taureans are practical, dependable people.
Ruled by Venus, Taureans are among the most sentimental and sensual of creatures. The intensity of passion beneath the carefully cultivated cool exterior means that people often misunderstand and misread Taureans.
In May, the Taurean's desperate need for tender loving and romance will intensify.
Taureans make faithful friends, but friends will let them down in the days ahead. May is a difficult month for typical Taureans as far as relationships are concerned. Those around you seem stuck in a self-centred rut. And, you'll have none of that.
Taureans can be obstinately and exasperatingly self-righteous. But my dear Taureans, Imhotep, warns against brooding resentment in May. Yes, you have cause for complaint, but please Taureans hold your tongues and hold your emotions in check.
Again, Imhotep is inclined to remind people born under the Mutable Air sign of Gemini (23 May-22 Jun) that trust is something they find excruciatingly hard to exercise. Well, Geminians will just have to try harder to trust others. Ruled by the planet Mercury, some Geminians can't even trust themselves, let alone others.
The Twins, as people born under this mercurial zodiac sign are often called, can be moody and unpredictable. Imhotep knows that it is very hard for you to trust, but you must learn to be more discerning, and a better judge of character.
The Twin is a person of uncertain temper. Impatience is often the undoing of a Twin. Irate complaints from family members and friends will drive you crazy unless you control your own emotions.
Typical Twins usually need someone more practical, more grounded in matters mundane, around to organise their lives for them. They also need someone who can read the two, often contrary, minds of the Twins.
Twins know instinctively that nothing under the sun lasts long, and they act accordingly. Uncharacteristically, however, Geminians will not be paralysed by cautious reserve this May.
Remember, dear Geminian, that May is month when you might encounter a harsh word or cruel deed. Fear not. Rather than seek revenge, and depending on your age and state of heath, turn the other cheek.
Imhotep forecasts that Geminians have a golden opportunity in May to break down some of the old barriers between rival sets of people.
Look out next week for Imhotep's reading of Cancer, Leo and Virgo
