Horoscopes: A sense of perspective
Published in Al-Ahram Weekly on 09 - 11 - 2006

Horoscopes:
A sense of perspective
Shaking old beliefs is hard, my dear Sea Goats, as people born under the Cardinal Earth sign of Capricorn (22 Dec-22 Jan) are sometimes called, especially when they have been firmly in place for so long. If you are really ready for a fresh start, the Stars deem it necessary at the moment. The more you let go, the more you will be ready to receive.
Grand illusions can be ever so seductive, but they can also get in the way when it comes to true love. You need to figure out the difference between what you want to see and what is actually right there in front of you.
A certain troubling person has disappeared from your life. Or so you thought. However, it is only temporary. The Stars want you to find some closure with this old and monotonous situation so you can move on to something better. Expect the best resolution of the situation to unfold in the weeks ahead.
When love goes wrong, it is easy to turn your whole life into a country song -- or the blues. What you need right now, however, is a sense of perspective. You will survive emotionally to live another beautiful, love-inspired day, and in a much better way.
Mind you, whatever gets you through the nights in the weeks ahead is just fine. Remember, however, that what you perceive is not necessarily reality. It is important not to project. Take other perspectives into account.
To survive physically, my dear Water Bearers, as people born under the Fixed Air sign of Aquarius (23 Jan- 19 Feb) are sometimes called, you need food, water and air. Plenty of fresh air, in particular, will work wonders for you in the weeks ahead.
Your soul, however, needs a vision to thrive. You are fast approaching a long-desired goal, so now it is time to start thinking beyond it. What do you want to do next?
It is time for a makeover. A little sprucing up of you person is just what the Stars ordered. Go ahead and look like a million. After all, you are worth that much -- actually you are worth so much more.
You do not have to be in a relationship to understand why someone's attempt at love is not going swimmingly. So if someone offers you a piece of advice, listen attentively to what they have to say. It might be very relevant to your situation.
Are you being asked to pour gallons of energy into a relationship that you did not ask for, my dear Dolphins, as people born under the Mutable Water sign of Pisces (20 Feb-21 Mar) are sometimes called? You are so naturally inclined to help other people that you might say "yes" before you think hard about it. Pause before you give a reply.
A hearty dash of common sense adds a nice balance to your sensitive soul. You are able to access your intuition and get ground decisions in the present. It is a good time, my dear Dolphins, to think about practical matters. You are kind, compassionate and understanding. But, you sometimes let your instincts run away with you. Being a pushover would not help anyone, even the person you so desperately want to assist right now.
Indeed, it is high time to examine what is in your own imagination when it comes to passion and romance. When you delve deeply into what inspires you, you can pull new meaning from all of your dreams, fantasies and the stories you tell yourself.
Live reality, do not live a lie -- a dream -- my dear Dolphins. You are always looking for original means to plumb the mystery of the human soul. Approaching a relationship with this unique point of view gives you a whole new set of options when you least expect it.
So dream weaver, wake up to a new and fresh perspective. Live life anew.
Seeing the opportunity in every situation is key to happiness when it comes to romance. So this did not work out. Why not go ahead and stay friendly? They may know someone who is just right for you.
Look out next week for Imhotep's reading of Cancer, Leo and Virgo
