Egypt's young player Nour El-Sherbini dominates the all-Egyptian semifinal of the British Open, marking her place in the history of the oldest and most prestigious tournament in squash Egypt's Nour El-Sherbini has defeated compatriot Raneem El-Weleily in the British Open semifinal on Saturday, becoming the first-ever Egyptian finalist in the prestigious world-wide squash competition. Although 23-year-old El-Weleily had dominated El-Sherbini in previous tournaments, El-Sherbini edged out El-Weleily in three games 14/12, 11/4 and 11/9. Her only defeat was in the second set, 7/11, where fellow Egyptian delivered an outstanding performance. Being only 16, El-Sherbini managed to prove her worth, especially as she is the youngest-ever female player to reach the top squash tournament's semifinal. El-Sherbini will play the winner between Laura Massaro from England and world number 1 Nicol David from Malaysia, who are scheduled to play later on Saturday. Also on Saturday, former Egyptian world number-one Ramy Ashour aims high, playing against the current world number-one, James Willstrop from England, at the tournament's semifinal.
