The Korean Cultural Centre celebrated the Lunar New Year with dozens of students and Korean culture fans in Egypt. Director of the Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) Yang Sang Keun said that the Lunar New Year ‘Seollal' is one of the most important traditional Korean holidays, noting that Koreans traditionally eat ‘Tteokguk'(rice cake soup) during the Seollal holiday, which they believe would prolong their life for another year. The celebration of Seollal began in the ancient Silla Kingdom. This year, the celebration of Seollal started on 25 January in Korea and will last for three days. "They also wear the traditional clothing ‘Hanbok' while family members gather in their hometowns, where children enjoy gifts offered by their parents and grandparents," he added. ## The participants took part in these Seollal rituals at the KCC, where they wore traditional Korean clothing and enjoyed rice cake soup and traditional Korean games.
