Egypt's new coach Hossam El-Badry is considering resting Liverpool star Mohamed Salah in the coming training camp ahead of facing Botswana in a friendly match on 14 October, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said. The 27-year-old Salah had already been called up for the first match under El-Badry alongside four other foreign-based players, but the coach recently said that the player has been suffering from fatigue. According to a statement by EFA issued early on Tuesday, El-Badry has contacted Salah to ask him about his health after playing successive matches in a short period with his club. "The coach and team manger Mohamed Barakat called Salah to learn about his rehabilitation programme, especially as he may need a rest in the coming period to avoid any further complications," said the EFA statement. "The coach is considering taking a new decision regarding Salah in the coming camp to ensure that the player gets needed rest and restores his fitness," the statement added. Salah, the former Roma man and top scorer of the Premier League for the past two seasons, made a fine start to the new campaign with Liverpool, netting four goals in the opening seven matches as the Reds top the table with a maximum 21 points. El-Badry is the first Egyptian manager in Egypt's hot seat in four years following Argentinean tactician Hector Cuper (2015-2018) and Javier Aguirre (2018-2019). Egypt are competing in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers alongside the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The team has not played since the exit from the African Cup of Nations last July, which was held in Egypt.
