No fake academic certificates issued to Kuwaitis from Egyptian universities: Ministry
Published in Ahram Online on 01 - 08 - 2018

The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education said in a statement on Wednesday that no fake academic certificates for bachelors and masters degrees were issued to Kuwaiti citizens from Egyptian universities.
Kuwait recently opened investigations into hundreds of fake academic certificates obtained by Kuwaitis working in the government sector, local media news reports said.
Investigators revealed that the main suspect in the case is an Egyptian who owns a pharmaceutical company and three pharmacies in Kuwait.
Security sources revealed that arrest warrants have been issued for four others, including a ministry department head and deputy manager, according to Kuwaiti media.
Earlier this week, the Egyptian embassy in Kuwait affirmed that the suspects have no links to Egyptian public or private universities.
"The authorities in Cairo are fully ready to investigate any suspected cases if there is evidence that people in Egypt were involved in forging the degrees," said the Egyptian embassy statement.
The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education affirmed on Wednesday that no fake certificates were issued under its supervision, asserting the validity of all scientific certificates documented by Egyptian universities.
"The supreme council of universities is entrusted with certifying all the scientific certificates in the country," the statement said, affirming that "the Egyptian universities have nothing to do with this case."
The ministry said it is in continuous contact with the Kuwaiti authorities and has instructed Egyptian universities to respond to check lists sent by Kuwait to confirm the validity of the certificates issued.
