Egypt star Salah dazzles in Liverpool UEFA CL thumping win
Published in Ahram Online on 17 - 10 - 2017

Liverpool and Egypt star Mohamed Salah scored a double and assisted another goal to help The Reds to a thumping 7-0 away victory at Slovenia's Maribor in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Tuesday.
Salah made his first contribution of the night when he squared for forward Firmino at the far post to make it one-nil in as early as the fourth minute.
The Egypt ace was then involved in the build-up of his side's second, sliding the ball into the box for James Milner who set up Coutinho on 13 minutes.
With Liverpool posing threat whenever they go forward, Salah made sure his side became 3-0 up, finishing coolly past the keeper from inside the six-yard box following Firmino's through ball.
It wasn't the end of the Egyptian's contributions though, still finding the net just five minutes from time following a squared ball into the area from full-back Alberto Moreno from the left.
Salah, however, was substituted 12 minutes after the restart, ending the 25-year-old's exploits of the night, but Liverpool were to continue to score.
Firmino added a well-deserved second after finishing from Coutinho's fierce cross with a deft header in the 54th minute.
Substitute Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, with his first Liverpool goal, and Trent Alexander-Arnold completed the rout in the closing stages as the visitors registered their biggest win under manager Juergen Klopp.
Liverpool have five points after three games to lead Group E from Spartak Moscow on goal difference, while Spanish side Sevilla sit one point adrift in third.
Maribor have one point.
