Lebanese icon Fayrouz announces release of new single 'Lameen'

Lebanese music icon Fayrouz announced on her official Twitter account the release of her new single, Lameen, on 21 June.
The single is the first to be released from her upcoming album, Bebalee, produced by Reema Rahbany, which is set to come out on 22 September.
“Lameen” is based on the original work “Pour qui veille l'étoile” (For Whom Waits the Star) written by Pierre Delanoë, composed by Louis Amade and sung by Gilbert Bécaud. Fayrouz's adaptation of the tune was arranged by Steve Sidwell, and the lyrics were written by the singer's daughter, Reema Rahbany.

Nouhad Haddad, known by her stage name, Fayrouz, was born on November 20, 1935 in Beirut, Lebanon. As a child, she took an early interest in music and singing, performing at many of her school's shows. There, she attracted the notice of prominent conservatory teacher Mohammed Flaifel, who advised her to join the conservatory.
On one occasion, Fayrouz was heard singing by head of the Lebanese radio station, Halim El Roumi, who introduced her to his daughter, renowned singer Majida El Roumi. El Roumi appointed Fayrouz a chorus singer at the radio station, and composed several songs for her.
Through her work at the radio station, Fayrouz met the Rahbani brothers, Assi and Mansour.
Fayrouz began to create music with the Rahbani brothers, rendering them an acclaimed trio, and leading to the singer's first large-scale performance in 1957. It was in this way that the Lebanese icon's musical career began.
After her 1971 North American tour, the singer rose to international prominence. She has since released over 800 songs, and performed in numerous plays and operettas.
